From White Hills' A Little Bliss Forever |
This week was a bit of an investigation into what is generally called "stoner rock". I was once told that this genre is essentially anything that traces its origin in some way to Black Sabbath. So we started with the Sabbath's the Wizard. Hard to pack in much content with a theme like this in one hour. Did manage to play the whole first side of White Hills' A Little Bliss Forever and a decent chunk of Flower Travellin' Band.
I also played some Linus Pauling Quartet, just to keep it real. Ended with Richie Havens and one of my all time happiest record surprises.
Robot News was positive this week, but I admit, dull.
Song for new Moms was inspired by the Minimalism of the preceding show.

I have to pick up Satori! Sounds like it was influenced by Cream as well as Sabbath's first record.

ReplyDeletedeanimation: flower travelin' *were* influenced by cream (and hendrix) but predate sabbath. satori is for sure a desert island disc, tho!
